This course consists of a combination of theoretical course work and practical learning. The course work is split fairly equally between practical skills training and classroom sessions. The course contains both mandatory and elective modules. Students choose elective modules in one of the following specialisms: dairy production, dry-stock production, machinery and crop production.
The Level 5 Certificate in Agriculture is the Teagasc recommended education pathway for a farm operative. Students who have completed this Level 5 Certificate in Agriculture are eligible to apply for Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Agriculture courses.
