The purpose of Physiotherapy Assistant Course is to enable the students to acquire the understanding , skills, and competence to work under supervision in providing support in a variety of Healthcare settings or to progress to further and or higher education and training. The specialist modules allow students to select based on their chosen area of interest. In response to a growing ageing population and the development of care of the Older Person services in Ireland, the demand for skilled and competent healthcare assistants is expected to grow significantly over the coming years whereas a Physiotherapy Assistant works with a Physiotherapist to assess and treat people whose movement is restricted by injury, illness or age. They use techniques to help with injuries and disorders of muscles and joints. Alternatively, an Occupational Therapy Assistant works with an Occupational Assistant in a Healthcare setting to assess and treat people individual support needs.
Entry Requirements
An interest in working as a Healthcare Professional. Work experience in the area would be an advantage.
